Sydney Opera House jobs

Sydney Opera House truly is an amazing place to work

Corridors are filled with music from performances in the Concert Hall, actors practice their lines in the Green Room and opera singers warm up their vocal chords for the evening performance.

But it takes many people to get the show on!

Sydney Opera House employs an array of staff across Marketing, Public Relations, Ticketing, Performing Arts, Production Services, Human Resources, Legal, Financial Services, Information Services, Customer Services, Fire & Safety, Emergency Operations, Building Development & Maintenance, Tourism, Executive and many other areas.

As a NSW Government agency, we conduct a recruitment process consistent with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013. This involves utilising various assessment methods to select a candidate on the basis of merit.

Work experience at the House

The Opera House is committed to providing artistic, cultural, educational and employment opportunities that build capacity and understanding. The Opera House believes creating these opportunities is essential to nurture the next generation of artists, audiences and visitors.

Our work experience program takes place twice a year and is open to secondary school students who are ideally studying in Year 10. The program lasts a week and gives participants a hands-on experience of how the Opera House operates during the program hours of 9.30am – 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. Participants will meet and work alongside a diverse range of Opera House employees from Ticketing Sales Representatives to Stage Managers to Building Operations Supervisors. We are one of the world’s busiest performing arts venues and the experiences we offer will vary between programs depending on what is happening at the time.
