Join us for a meditative tea workshop and an intimate dance ritual at Rituals of Welcome

Tea Time for Soft Bodies | 1 - 1:45 pm
Tea ritual led by Wendy Qi Zhang

Join us for a meditative tea workshop that begins with a ceremony inspired by the Chinese Gong Fu ritual, a gentle invitation into presence. From there, we’ll journey through a fusion of Chinese herbal blends and Australian native botanicals, exploring the textures of taste, scent, and story. Held in a shared atmosphere of quiet reflection, this session offers a multisensory path into inner listening, softness, and connection with one another.

Evoking Vanakkam | 2 - 2:30pm
Dance ritual led by Vishnu Arunasalam

Come and witness an intimate dance ritual with Vishnu Arunasalam. Drawing upon Tamil philosophy, which sees the body as an amalgamation of elemental forces intricately woven with nature, Vishnu explores this belief by embodying these elements—air, fire, water, earth, and space. As a non First Nations artist, Vishnu utilises dance as a way of deepening his connection to Country. In doing so, he not only acknowledges the land, honouring both the place and his presence within it.

Holding Space is funded by the NSW Government through the Multicultural NSW COMPACT Program. Our project collaborators are SSI’s Community Refugee Welcome Centre located at Callan Park, Lilyfield, and Community Partners Sydney Opera House.
