Dan Sultan with special guest Jem Cassar-Daley

Homegrown talent to perform a celebratory free gig on the iconic Sydney Opera House Forecourt

Seven-time ARIA Award winner Dan Sultan will make a magnificent return to the Opera House with a free concert under the stars on the Forecourt. Performing with a full band, the one-night-only performance is the Sydney stop on Sultan’s national tour marking his expansive 20-year career and 15 years since his breakout record 'Get Out While You Can'.

With seven studio albums to his name, the singer-songwriter is a powerhouse of Australian music and has earned acclaim for his soulful voice and rich genre-spanning catalogue. A proud Arrernte/Gurindji man, Sultan has been at the forefront of a rising tide of artists informed by culture and storytelling. Celebrating wins at the ARIA, NIMA and AIR awards for his self-titled record released in 2023, Sultan is riding high after a huge year in 2024 which also included a performance on the world stage at the Paris Paralympic Games.

Michael Hutchings, Head of First Nations Programming at the Sydney Opera House, shared: “Dan Sultan is an absolute legend of Australian music, paving the way for a generation of artists. This gig continues the legacy of Tubowgule, also known as Bennelong Point, where the Opera House now stands. People have gathered in this place for tens of thousands of years to share stories, and Dan is a modern storyteller of epic proportions. It’s a true delight to have him performing on the Forecourt in a free event where people from all walks of life can witness the magic of one of Australia’s finest live acts.”

Sultan will be joined by special guest and 2022 QMA Indigenous Artist of the Year Jem Cassar-Daley. A proud Gumbaynggirr/Bundjalung woman and rising star in the contemporary indie-pop scene, she most recently performed at the Sydney Opera House as part of the inaugural Generations & Dynasties series alongside her father, Troy.

The announcement completes an epic line-up of concerts on the Forecourt this March, featuring sold-out shows for Fontaines D.C. with special guests shame (March 6), PJ Harvey with special guest Mick Turner (March 13) and New Order (March 14 & 15).
