Opera

One night, three very different operas: this operatic feast showcases Puccini at his best.

Desperation. Despair. Deception.

Il Trittico is an operatic treat: a rare chance to see three short operas in one night.

Love, lies and death permeate the gritty melodrama of Il Tabarro, the intimate tragedy of Suor Angelica and the surprising satire of Gianni Schicchi.

The audience is the winner, with a triple helping of Puccini’s sumptuous orchestra writing, famous arias and the witty, tight ensemble singing of the best comedies.

We’ve brought together three outstanding Australian directors to tell these stories, plus exciting young conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya and a brilliant Australian cast.

A Child of Our Time

13 Sep 2025

The rapturous power of Michael Tippett’s modern classic speaks to our own time. Sydney Philharmonia Choirs pairs this modern classic inspired by the Passions of Bach, oratorios of Handel and Afro-American spirituals, with two new works featuring youth choir VOX. The time is 1939. The time could be now. Michael Tippett’s oratorio A Child of Our Time wasn’t simply inspired by gross social injustice, persecution and conflict, it was written in the midst of these things, and it continues to speak to us across the decades.
