Rachmaninov - Celebrating the Last Romantic Hero

After two successful performances by these two formidable musicians in 2022, soprano Ayşe Göknur Shanal and concert pianist and composer Benjamin Martin are thrilled to perform together once again, at the iconic setting of Sydney Opera House.

They will be sharing some of the most glorious, intimate, heart wrenching, technically and emotionally demanding, repertoire of Russian Romanticism, as well as celebrating the 150th year of Rachmaninov.

‘Music is a calm moonlit night, the rustle of leaves in Summer. Music is the far off peal of bells at dusk! Music comes straight from the heart and talks only to the heart: It is Love! Music is the Sister of Poetry and her Mother is Sorrow!’ Sergei Rachmaninov
