Prepare your micro-critter hero for the apocalypse

In this workshop students explore science fiction, futurism and the world of tardigrades (or Moss Piglets) to create their own imaginative micro-critters that could survive extreme environments.

Windmill Theatre’s production of Moss Piglet connects students to the concept of resilience – reminding us of how ‘even the tiniest of things can be the strongest’. Responding to this, students will explore the world of tardigrades (or Moss Piglets) to create their own imaginative micro-critters that could survive extreme environments.

Students will be invited to consider their own strengths and superpowers to create a micro-critter from recycled and textured materials.

In this workshop students will:

  • Learn about tardigrades and extremophiles from around the world – their resilient traits, survival tricks and lifecycles.
  • Create imaginative (and probable) micro-critters that could survive and thrive in extreme environments.
  • Brainstorm and prototype their micro-critter’s personality, favourite diet, superpowers, related ancestors and adaptations in extreme environmental conditions.
  • Create drawings, sketches, collages and puppets to bring their ideas to life.
  • All materials for this workshop will be provided.

This workshop pairs nicely with a ticket to Moss Piglet. Please book both experiences to enjoy your Day Out at the House.
