London Symphony Orchestra LSO Discovery Project

3 May 2023

Young musicians from Sydney and NSW join forces with members of the London Symphony Orchestra to perform a programme of diverse repertoire. Featuring works by Ethel Smyth, Edward Elgar, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Ayanna Witter-Johnson and more.

Celebrate the next generation of classical music in the Concert Hall

The London Symphony Orchestra returns to the Sydney Opera House in May 2023 and, alongside their three monumental performances, they will lead an LSO Discovery project, where they will play alongside young, aspiring classical musicians from Sydney and New South Wales in a bold, spectacular youth orchestra concert.

Conducted by the esteemed Elizabeth Scott (Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs), an amassed orchestra of young musicians hailing from Sydney Youth Orchestras, the NSW Regional Youth Orchestra and Sydney Conservatorium of Music will combine to learn, connect and play together.

The program will feature compositions that celebrate the rich history of British repertoire, and will showcase some orchestral favourites for stage and film. Whether you’re a diehard fan classical music fan, or a total newcomer, this momentous event in the Concert Hall will be one to remember.
