Utzon Music Education 2023 String Octet Showcase with Brodsky Quartet and Ensemble Apex Quartet

24 April 2023

In the Utzon Room | Classical Music

The Brodsky Quartet shares half a century of chamber music experience and musical insights with four young string players from Ensemble Apex in an octet collaboration.

Experience meets Enthusiasm in a Twilight Showcase

Capping off their Utzon Music 2023 residency, the Brodsky Quartet will join forces with young string quartet from Ensemble Apex in this special collaborative concert.

Coming together for the first time the morning of the performance, the two String Quartets will form a special, one time only String Octet, spending the day workshopping and rehearing this showcase program. The Brodsky musicians will be sharing their experience and insights, drawing on more than fifty years of music-making.

Join us for the culminating twilight showcase concert with a delightfully eclectic program. There’ll be musical ear candy with string octet arrangements of popular classics such as the Hoe-down from Copland’s Rodeo and Barber’s meltingly beautiful Adagio. And Elgar’s Serenade for strings will provide a gorgeous finale.

Join us for a charismatic performance, celebrating this cross-gen classical collaboration in a relaxed setting.
