An experimental dance weekend featuring international artists curated by Palette Session

This experimental dance festival invites dancers across Australia and the Asia-Pacific to discover the unique colour of their movement. 

Ki 氣 involves a dance battle, jam session, masterclass series and a talk with experimental dance leaders across the Asia-Pacific. 

Please note the dance battle and jam session will take place on Saturday 23 May 2026 at a different venue. More information to come.

In this masterclass, you will be guided through structured improvisation and playful exercises rooted in: Waving dance, Animation dance, character/entity building, w_acking, krump, isolation, contemporary dance, ballet, Japanese somatic training, surfing, physical theatre and Flood dance.

Rooted in street dance culture, Palette Session is a cross-cultural dance collective based in Seoul and Sydney providing spaces for dancers from all backgrounds to experiment, connect and grow creatively.

Open to movers of all styles and experience levels, you’re invited to move with freedom, curiosity and community.

Getting to the venue

The Opera House is a 7-10 minute walk from Circular Quay, and is easily accessible by car, train, ferry, lightrail, bus, bike and on foot.

Location and access

Centre for Creativity

The Centre for Creativity is located at the end of the Western Foyers, next to the Drama Theatre. Best accessed through the Western Foyers entry.

All Sydney Opera House foyers are accessible, with lifts to the main and western foyers. The public lift to all foyers is accessible from the corridor near the escalators on the Lower Concourse and also in the Western Foyer via the corridor on the Ground Level (at the top of the escalators).
