The World Doctors Orchestra 2024 Australian Tour

The World Doctors Orchestra proudly presents its 2024 Australian Tour concert in the Sydney Opera House. This inaugural Sydney concert presents Deborah Cheetham Fraillon’s Tarimi Nulay, Carl Vine’s Symphony No.1 Microsymphony and the momentous 2nd symphony by Gustav Mahler.

The World Doctors Orchestra is an international orchestra of physicians established in 2008 by Prof. Stefan Willich with the purpose of combining music with global medical responsibility. The orchestra meets four times a year and has performed in many of the great concert halls across the world to critical acclaim. The WDO is set up as an independent non-profit association driven by the spirit of the orchestra members. The participants cover their own travel expenses as well as donating towards the session expenses, while local costs are kept as low as possible. Although all of the physicians share a passion for music, the driving force behind WDO is the conviction that neither national borders nor political or economic interests should limit access to adequate healthcare. With it's series of charity concerts, WDO strives to raise global awareness that healthcare is a basic human right and a precondition for human development.
