In 2023 we bring you a curated range of performances, workshops, tours and experiences to both activate the curriculum in imaginative ways, and to provide high quality arts experiences to develop our young people’s capacity to connect with their peers through the power of creativity.

Stories from the Reef
Schools Workshop | Stages ES and 1 | Utilising creative arts, theatre activities and storytelling, students explore self-expression and playful exchange, inspired by the underwater life of the Sydney Opera House's Artificial Reef Project.

Ngumpie Weaving
Schools Workshop | Stages 2 - 5 | Weave with Ngumpie Weaving artist Tegan Murdock to learn about traditional Aboriginal practices of purposeful and sustainable making.

Yong
Schools Performance | Stages 3 - 5 | Set against the backdrop of the Australian Goldrush of 1857, mixing historical fact and narrative fiction, Yong takes us on a coming-of-age journey of a young Chinese boy across land and sea, from China to the goldfields of Australia.

Dissecting Geometry
Schools Workshop | Stages 3 - 4 | Students in years 5 - 9 will learn about architecture, perspective, geometry and Jorn Utzon and Ove Arup’s Spherical Solution to gain an understanding of the mechanics, engineering and sheer creativity involved in constructing the iconic Sydney Opera House.

Bodies as Buildings
Schools Workshop | Stages 2 - 3 | Students will use dance practice to consider how architects create buildings for people to inhabit, work, move and explore in urban spaces.

Classroom resources
The Opera House’s Teacher Resources provide inspirational activities to watch, listen and read for students in the classroom or learning at home. Teachers should adapt these resources to suit the student age, stage and the lesson outcomes desired.

Schools Tour
Take your students on a walking journey to learn about how Australia and a man from Denmark, Jørn Utzon, created a sculpture on Sydney Harbour that changed the course of twentieth-century architecture and the city of Sydney as we know it.
